Memoir: The Best Thing About the Covid-19 Pandemic

I think the greatest thing to come from Covid has been spending more time with my sister.

When I lived in Taipei I went on many adventures. But towards the end of my year there I realized how much I missed my family. I missed them to the point that I wasn't enjoying my time anymore in Taiwan. Shortly after moving back from Taiwan, my sister moved away to San Francisco. I was happy that she was happy, but I missed her.

My sister hated Cincinnati. But the thing about Cincinnati is that it always drags you back in, like quicksand. All it took was a once-in-a-century plague and a rampant wildfire to drag my sister back to the land of Skyline Chili and slow relaxation that is the antithesis of San Francisco.

She crashed at my apartment for a month. The plan was for her to sleep on the living room couch. However, I quickly got the little brother treatment and in no time the couch was mine and she commandeered my bedroom.

I hadn’t realized how much I enjoyed having her around. Living under the same roof after a decade helped me re-meet my sister as an adult. Now, we are closer than ever and she might even stay . . . . But probably not.
